ERP360 Market Analysis – Findings
Tuesday, April 30th, the ERP360 Market Analysis Governance group was briefed by Peak Performance Technologies on the current state assessment and direction the system should go with their current ERP. The Lessons Learned Townhalls were facilitated and summarized. The Vendor Value evaluations are ongoing by the potential cloud vendors. Based on the data collected, the ERP360 Governance group finds that the North Dakota University System should incorporate the following recommendation below into the future strategic plan and funding requests.
Recommendation
Campuses with assistance from CTS need to begin working on cloud readiness to prepare NDUS for a multiyear transition from the current platform to a single vendor cloud provider that can handle Human Capital Management (HCM), Finance (FIN), and Student Information System (SIS). This provides a single system of record. As part of this recommendation, the conversation needs to continue around the unique business processes of all member institutions. This may include separate instances for different institutions. To be fully transitioned to cloud by 2035, which is the end of life for the current on-premise solution, and address current operational challenges, we recommend the following tasks:
- Follow Peak Performance’s Roadmap Plan
- Legislative Session 2025: Prepare for cloud readiness (consulting, technology driven backfill strategy, and stabilization funding). (Potential Legislative Request: $10 million)
- Cloud Readiness work completed by FY27.
- Consulting Services: Stabilization, process improvement, Organizational Change Management (OCM), and project management.
- Analysis of viable backfill partner
- Analysis of cloud vendor
- Analysis of implementation partner
- There will be implementation planning activities during this time.
- Legislative Session 2027: Full ERP selection and implementation (Potential Legislative Request: $150 million over 3-4 biennium’s)
- RFP and selection of backfill partner
- Review and selection of cloud vendor
- RPF and selection of implementation partner
NOTE: On Thursday, May 9, 2024, via Teams, Odella Fuqua, Co-Chair of the ERP360 Governance Committee, will present this recommendation to the Chancellor’s Cabinet.
Addendum
As the Market Analysis progressed into the 2024 calendar year, it became apparent that the ERP Market Analysis findings should be incorporated into the Envision 2035 effort. This inclusion warranted a presentation to the SBHE, which took place on May 29, 2024, during the board’s annual retreat by Peak Performance Technologies, Corey Quirk, and Odella Fuqua.
