CTS Overview
Mission and Shared Services Model
The mission of Core Technology Services (CTS) is to deliver technology-based resources, services, and solutions to support students, faculty, staff, institutions, the NDUS System Office, and North Dakota residents.
CTS operates through a shared services model, providing centralized technology services that support all North Dakota University System (NDUS) institutions. This approach promotes consistency, efficiency, cost effectiveness, and secure access to enterprise systems and data across the system.
CTS delivers these services by leveraging current technologies, evaluating emerging solutions, and positioning NDUS to innovate and adopt future technologies.
Through its shared services model, CTS provides secure information management and enterprise technology services that connect academic and administrative functions across NDUS. These services enable users to access the tools, systems, and information needed to support teaching, learning, research, and business operations.
Governance and Oversight
The Commissioner is delegated authority to oversee information technology planning, policies, standards, guidelines, and project management in coordination with the state information technology department. NDUS information technology projects must comply with established standards, guidelines, procedures, and processes.
CTS supports this governance framework by aligning shared services with systemwide priorities, ensuring consistency in implementation, and providing transparency in planning and execution.
Reporting and Accountability
An annual report on higher education information technology planning and services is prepared for the State Board of Higher Education. Information on major initiatives and projects is also provided, upon request, to the Information Technology Committee.
