Job Location: Grand Forks, ND
The Network Engineer is a member of the Network Services Team in the North Dakota University System (NDUS) Core Technology Services Department. This position provides support for 24X7 voice, video and data communications services, requiring flexibility to work, as needed, outside of the normal Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, business hours. It serves in a consulting and advisory role, providing input for consistent network design and practices within the NDUS Data Center, across the UND campus, and between NDUS campuses. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: plan, test and engineer solutions for responsive, secure, and reliable communication services for the NDUS/UND Data Center, UND campus, and as requested, for all NDUS campuses; Lead and provide guidance for implementation of core, distribution, and access communication systems and services within architectural design specifications; Configure and support network security systems and components; Identify needs and solutions, and provide information for budget planning and acquisition of equipment and materials; Manage and participate in IT projects within CTS and across the enterprise; Provide training, direction and guidance for less experienced network staff; Work collaboratively with North Dakota Information Technology Division and IT staff throughout the North Dakota University System to ensure that wide area network resources are provisioned to support communication needs of campuses. Work is scheduled and performed with guidance and direction of the manager of Network Services, and in collaboration with and oversight of network architect.
